Services

From minor injuries to major trauma, Stony Brook University Trauma Center handles it all.

As Suffolk County’s only Adult and Pediatric Level I Trauma Center, we offer the expertise, facilities, technology and breadth of resources to handle everything from sports injuries to falls to burns to major automobile accidents. Our outcomes are among the best in New York State, and we treat more than 2500 patients annually.

As a Level I Trauma Center that is part of an academic medical center, Stony Brook offers trauma and emergency experts with highly specialized skills, protocols and experience immediately available around the clock. For children, we provide a dedicated Pediatric Emergency Department adjacent to the main Emergency Department, staffed by board-certified Pediatric Emergency Medicine physicians.

Stony Brook Trauma Center provides advanced imaging and other specialized equipment at or near the patient’s bedside, with immediate access to Operating Rooms. Twenty-four-hour monitoring and specialized care is offered for the most critically ill or injured patients in our Surgical Intensive Care Unit.

Our eight-bed Suffolk County Volunteer Firefighters Burn Center provides expertise in burn care as Suffolk County’s only state-designated regional Burn Center.
